I have a 1976 corvette with a m-21 close ratio .The shifter gets very warm after driving just a short distance.There is no exhaust under car running side pipes .Any ideas would be helpfull thanks.

is the transmission hot as well? maybe a bad bearing in trans or low on oil. there s two boots on the shifter, are they both on?
