Help,
I installed a Hurst short throw on my vette this weekend. I left
the factory settings. Now it is hard to take out of gear and to shift
into another gear. A real stop between gears. Also have a rattle
in 1st and 2nd sbove 3000 RPM and a lot of engine noise is.
I have installed many shifters before but I must have messed up on this one.
I called tec.support twice and was on hold for 30 minutes without an
answer. The third time I waited an hour. Is this normal?
Appreciate any help you can offer. I just want this puppy to work.

I haven't heard anything negative about Hurst... You will feel an increase in throw effort with just about any short throw. Here's a couple of things to check;

1. First and foremost I would align the shifter! If you don't know how send me your EMail address. Since you've installed em before I'm going to assume that the ball is fully seated in the cup.

2. Are there any adjustable stops on the shifter?

3. Did it come with a rubber isolation boot? They help tremendously with rattles and noise.

4. To further reduce the throw effort you can do the Anti Venom mod (shimming out the tranny detent bolt) and replace or cut the springs in the shifter housing...

I have installed a B&M shifter just a couple of days ago and I am having the same problem but I also have a hard time with second. Somtimes when I shift to second it feels like it seats but does not and pops back out. Could you email me also.
