My friend says to spray the wires at night with water while the car is running????? Is he messing with me?

Just open the hood in a dark place at night and you will see any arcing from the ignition system

Take an ohmmeter and check each wire's resistance. They should be around 25,000 ohms each. If you find one that doesn't read, that means the wire is burned out somewhere inside. If your wires have around 100,000 miles on them, then it's time to replace them.

And NO. DON"T spray water on them. That won't do anything but make a bunch of short circuits and may damage your distributor.

I think I would stay away from water on wires!
