I'm new to forums. I guess I just post all my questions and hopefully someone will help me? I just posted a question so I hope there is no limit to how many questions you can post.

My 1980 has a few problems with it. The other problem is my ebrake don't work? So does this automatically mean the rear brakes aren't working either? The front brakes work just fine.

Doesn't mean your rear brakes are shot, it could be something in the linkage??? What is happening when you pull the brake up?

E-brake cable is usually the culprip. Frozen up. WD-40 the line to and from the cable as moisture have got the best of it by not using it very much. I don't use mine at all as I'm on mostly on level ground. So use it every so often as to keep it loose. Keep wheels turned to curb if you must.

The E-Brake and the foot brakes are 2 different systems. The ONLY thing the same is they work on the rear wheels.
Get a jack and some stands, take off a rear wheel and set back and study it. Coming from the front there is a cable you can see very easily-it runs under the trailing arm and then along the outside to a bracket- that's the E-Brake cable. Have someone pull the E- while you watch the cable- it should move.

has a problem with E-Brake my self
i could pull the handel all the way to the rear windows :P and the car wouldnt stop
figured out that the cable that runs From the handle to the rear wheel is a single cable than its kinda splitted into two right and left,
in the middle of the split there is two nuts that can be adjusted to control how much the lever or handel will pull the cable and it was loose so when i pulled the cable where pulled put not quite enough to pull the inner brake pads of the wheel to stop it , so i loosened the one on the single cable end and then tighten the other one until the cable has more tention and then tightened the first one again . and that fixed the problem.

if you face any difficulties with my description pm me your email so i can send you the picture of it, or wait till i post my ten posts that allow me to post pictures :P

If I remember, the service manual says to manually adjust the shoes up tight and then back off a little, then pull the e-brake handle up 14 clicks, then adjust the cable until the rear wheels are locked up.

Hey Guys, the C3's emregency/parking brake usually doesn't work. The old material used in the shoes rusts so the shoes in the rear drum freezes with the shoes open. Yea you can yank on that cable and pull the handle to the sky. What you need is a replacement set of brake shoes. Most of the mail order places will sell you a stainless steel set that won't rust. The older the model, would be best to replace the shoes and cable with stainless....then you can park on the side of a mountain. My Vette is a 76 and I replaced the shoes, my brake was rusted and would not work.
