Hi Tammy, I have had an 01 now own an 04, I added a Blackwing air intake and a Vararam velocity stack VR3 to my car and my mpg went from 17/24 to 19 to 20 city, and 27 to 30 Hwy.

I have two bad habits that's won't help you get good MPG.

1. SC(740 rwhp): Still gets 29 on highway, but SC puts that bug in your ear to floor it more than is healthy.

2. I road race weekly. My car gets about 8 mpg on the track (running between 3,700-6,000 rpm).

David - curious if the intake mods. raised the engine noise level any?

Try not to peel out at every stop light. I know it maybe a hard habit to break but it may save you some gas mileage:lol:

Carry a rotten egg and install it under the accelerator pedal. (Just kidding!) :D

LOL!! All great answers! But I just have my wife push me in the vette, it saves the most money out of every other method that I have tried!! You should also try it!!

How is her uphill acceleration? Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

A tune can actually help with MPG and surprisingly a higher HP car can actually get better MPG. Al's car regularly gets 30+ highway MPG and 20's around town. And that's with 460 RWHP head & cam combo and 3.73 gears on an M12 transmission.

I bet that was a pleasant surprise, especially with gas on the way back up.

Having driven a Lexus GS400 for about 8 years I recently got an '01 C-5 and pleasantly found my mileage was pretty good @ about 19 MPG. By using Cruise Control I can get it up to 22 MPG around the city. I'll be installing a VaraRam soon and hope to see even better mileage. With gas approaching $4/Gal I save as much as I can driving normally so that when the urge hits me to nail it, I don't feel guilty.

I do agree the 6 speed helps. I have gotten as high as 32 mpg but average around 28 most of the time.

I just make sure that I get regular tune ups and always use the good gas. I know that is probably a no brainer but you never know with some people!!
