I live in Kansas with a 2002 C5 that up untill yesterday I have left stock. I just ordered a new exhaust for it and was thinking about doing something with the motor. I would like to get some power, right around another 150-200HP. Everyone I have spoken to has suggested either a twin turbo or supercharger. I have been told that installing a twin turbo cost alot more.

So I would liket to look at average cost of installing a supercharger:

Manuson vs procharger, vortech, paxton.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Steve,

Congrats on making the decision to jump to forced induction! Don't worry, the first time you drive your car with the newfound power, you will know you definately made the right choice!

To give you a simple answer in terms of cost for a good supercharged setup versus a twin turbo setup, keeping in mind the required little "extras" for each setup, you would be looking at around $10K for a good supercharger (either a Magnuson or a Procharger or Vortech or Paxton) and a little closer to $15K for a good Twin Turbo setup. Both of these options are assuming a boost level of around 6-8 PSI which is all I would recommend running on a stock bottom end. All but the Magnuson would be capable of higher boost levels if you decided to build a forged engine, and turn up the wick sometime down the road. These prices would be for a complete, installed, tested and tuned package that's turn-key and ready to drive.

I'm sure you're already starting to find that there are numerous choices both in what kit to start with, and what options are necessary. To determine this, it's really best to discuss your goals, and expectations with someone who is experienced in all forms of forced induction, rather than someone who specializes in a certain product, as each product has it's high and low points. The only way to make a good recommendation for you is to know how you intend to use the car (ie: Street, Drag race, Road Race) and how you would like it to perform.

Please feel free to conatct me if you would like to discuss some different combinations,
Ed

Thanks for the information Ed, I'm still looking at all the options, don't think I will go with a twin turbo set up. I’m leaning towards the supercharger side. I appreciate you offering advice and help and may hit you up on that!
