Have any of you done this? If so what did it run with the new windshield and HUD.:seeya:

I have thought about it a few times, but never really figured out a good way to do it. If you figure it out, or if anyone has done it, I would like to see how it looks and how well it works.

Welcome to the Forum.....:burnout:

Here's a neat discussion on 'HUD'S' :

Also: Post #6 shows a HUD gadget, would be cooler if it was integrated into the dash.

Great info on there. I bet you could use the speaker grill in the dash, cut out a small area large enough for the screen of one like this:

And find a way to mount that under the dash. It would also be possible to wire the power source to a switch so that you can turn it on and off as needed. I think I am going to order one to try my idea. Time to add another project to my list.... :thumbsup3:

I bet it would be pricey!

I will know for sure soon, but it looks like the total install is only going to cost around $120.

Speaker grill sounds like the ticket , worst case is you replace the grill with a new one later if you get tired of the unit, sure can't complain about the price....

I like the idea of having one displayed off the windshield itself, but I'm 'guessing' that would be about a $1200.00 operation when all is said and done.
Maybe there's a film that could be attached to the lower part of the windshield for 'projection' style HUD , so the windshield wouldn't have to be replaced, course that might 'peace' off whoever markets the 'special' windshield.:beerbang:

HUD will work on a regular windshield. Have seen C6 owners replace their broken windshield with a non HUD one with no problems at all.:thumbsup3:

Cool.

If JRD installs the 'non projection' style, hopefully he posts some finished shots.

I will definitely post some pics of the installation and let everyone know how well it works. Check back to my build thread in the other section in a couple weeks and I should have some pics. I have already ordered everything and plan to install it asap. I wont get any good road time with it for a few more months, but I can let everyone know how well it works in the garage.
