Hi all. I have an 01 and put K&N direct air intake on a few months back. Im im south florida and my check engine light has come on twice in the last 2 months (and went off). I noticed that the weather temperature was unseasonably cold each time it came on. The check light went off as the day warmed up. Does any one have an openion that this temperature change may cause this?

What code did it store in code history?

Many times a bad O2 reading will trigger check engine. Try RXP gas treatment. It will clean up sensor. May require two treatments.

Your Oxygen Sensors have heating circuits to quickly bring them up to operating temperature before the exhaust actually gets hot.
If they take longer to heat up than specified, they will set a code, usually P0135 indicating the anomaly.
This means at least one of your oxygen sensor heating circuits is getting weak.
You said it was cold outside when it happened, this probably led to the failure.
Since it's intermittent the check engine light eventually goes out, I don't think it's anything to worry about.
You can check you Driver Information Center (DIC) to read the actual codes stored in the system.
Simply replacing the failing sensor will solve the problem.

Whenever you get a check engine light you have to go into the DIC and check the codes. Otherwise, what is going on is just a guess. It only takes 1 minute to go thru all the code banks. LEARN HOW TO DO IT..........:thumbsup3:

It's easy.......Just turn the ignition on but don't start the engine. While holding the Options button press the fuel button 4 times then release. If you do it correctly the dic will go into diagnostic. It will then show codes for all of your systems. If the code number has an H after it it is a history code. If it has an H and a C it is a current code. After reading the codes write them down. You can even clear codes without a scan tool by pressing different buttons. I just bought my C5 a week ago and have already figured out how to do this.

Right, and here is a list of the codes and what they mean and what to do about them: http://www.gearchatter.com/viewforum31.php?sid=2b59dfa6fde0c5d13df45991f2290e ef

Thanks and i did it. There is quite a history of code problems and all resolved i believe. It says i can delete the history as would like to start over again now that i know how to look. If i delete the history and the same problem comes up will it show the check engine light? I say this because the history is very long and with at least 20 records and is very confusing. Would like to see only new code problems that arise.
Please advise any thoughts.

Clear the codes, and only worry about those that reappear. If one comes back it will trigger the check engine light. Also, you can run thru the DIC code banks anytime you want to see if there is anything there.
