: Running Incorrect Injectors

I recently bought a C4 that was obviously modified by the previous owner. There is a sticker saying it has an aftermarket tune, there is an MSD ignition system and the injectors were replaced with crappy Pythons.

The car ran pretty rough when I got it and would regularly flood, think the injectors where sticking open. I ordered some new 24lb injectors for it and installed them. It smoothed everything up pretty well. Car ran smooth and consistent, started every time but on WOT sometimes I get white smoke. I was thinking that it might be running lean as maybe the car was tuned for higher flowing injectors. I had a few old injectors sent off for testing because there were no markings on them to determine their flow rate. The injector guy called me today and said they seemed to be 30lb injectors when he flow tested them but as they ran so crappy it was hard to be sure.

So my questions are
1) How much damage (if any) could I have done by running the wrong injectors for 2000 miles?
2) If they had the wrong injectors how come I wasn't getting any lean or rich codes from the computer?
3) When I get the 30lb injectors installed is there any way to be absolutely sure that I have the correct ones for the tune this time?

95 LT-1

Without knowing what is on the tune you are running blind. Need someone to read the tune on the PCM and see what the settings are for

1. You are now running the correct injectors for a '95. I really doubt you have done any damage. If it was far enough off to cause any damage you would be getting codes from the O2 sensors amoung other things. Unless the PO did some heavy mods (heads, cam, etc) there is absolutely no reason to want 30lb injectors in a 95 LT1. Leave the 24s in there and get a new tune just to be safe.
What kind of gas mileage are you getting?

I purchased 24 lb bosch III injectors for my 85. I was told to disconnect the battery for 10 min and it would reprogram for the 24 lb injectors. Is this correct?

Anyone running 24 in their L98?

OP might want to disconnect his battery and try this.

The injector size is changed in the program( tune). If you changed stock 22's for 24's then the computer still thinks you have 22's and car will run rich because injector will be open longer than it needs to be.
The computer does have a "learning " function where it adjusts to your driving style and disconnecting the battery clears this so it starts again

Unfortunately I don't have any way to tell that I know of if they had any head or cam work. I bought it from a dealer so I never met the actual previous owner.

I seem to be getting around 19mpg average with the 24lbers on there now. But it does seem weaker than it did with the 30lbs I think. I can't tell if it's that or its just that I've gotten more used to it. But there is still the smoke issue at WOT. At first I thought it might be a head gasket so I put some dye in the coolant and after few hundred miles it doesn't show up with a uv light on the exhaust. Also it doesn't seem to be losing any coolant.

Can anyone recommend the best place to get a new tune?

Too far away from GA. How about Corvettes of Dallas? They are on here regularly. Otherwise maybe there is a local Corvette club that could recommend someone? City/hwy mileage of 19 isn't great, but it isn't that bad either.

LG in Willie is one of the best in the nation. They did my C6. Corvettes of Dallas, Twenty First Century Muscle Cars is another good choice.

You have lots of options in the DFW area. There are some good ones in Arl. also.

Thanks for the recommendations. For that matter can anyone recommend a good shop in Arlington for general repair. I try to do most things myself but alignment and other things need to be taken in for. Haven't found anyone I liked yet.
