tstar 02-15-2008, 06:57 AM First off... CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to the brotherhood!
There's alot you can do DIY actually, what are you looking at doing? Performance, cosmetics, handling ect...
Wicked Weasel @ ECS 02-15-2008, 08:01 AM Congrats
As far as mods there are tons. Are you looking for Performance or Bling? Also around what price range are you looking at?
And as stated there are many mods you can do yourself and save money. One mod is take adjust your fog lights up a crack or 2. You can also replace the crappy stock fog bulbs with sylvania 885 50 watt bulbs. Cheap way to improve lighting.
Let see what else - add CAGS to eliminate the skip shift feature. I believe it is $40 from corvettes of houston and you can install it in 10 mins. It eliminates the lockout of 2nd if you are going too slow.
Flush mount your tail lights - you can buy the hardware from lowes and change your tail lights to flushmount.
Paint your calipers. Go to your local car parts store and they have caliper paint. It is an easy job and looks great.
lower your car. Easy to do by just adjusting a few bolts. Car looks better than the 4x4 look it comes out of the factory.
paint your hood liner. Open your hood the liner has the Vette logo imprinted. Get some paint spray paint and spray paint it black then go to your local hobby store and get hobby paint and fill in the logo with the colors you want. I made mine Yellow until I bought a custom one.
I am sure i will think of more.....

What kind of hardware did you buy at lowes to change to flushmount tail lights.
What bolts do you adjust to lower the car.

Congrats on your Vette:burnout:
Limited budget would make me think of DIY's like painting calipers, CAI, Stripes... there are many... Only YOU know what your style is though.. Good luck with the mods!!

What bolts do you adjust to lower the car.
Longer screws or bolts and white nylon stand offs, you'll need 1/2" and 3/4" stand offs.
You can use the factory transverse leaf spring bolts to drop it around 3/4" of an inch (maybe more). If you want to get lower you'll have to replace the rear bolts with longer ones... Keep in mind that you're looking at an allignement after you do this, so wait until you smack a pothole real good!
bigdaddysvette 02-27-2008, 05:21 AM congratulations on your purchase. when i first bought mine, i was also a little lite in the wallet. i went with decals for steering wheel and letters for airbag and tail, cargo cover, performance hood seal, mud flaps, perform-mats, ran up a total of about $250. i'm going to keep mine as stock as possible, just a few personal touches here and there. i'm sure i'll find a few other things i want to do, but not overdo. :)

Decals for the steering wheel??? Can't say I know what you are talking about here? For $250 looks like you did pretty good. I would like to see what you are talking about on the decals for the steering wheel if you have a photo? Thanks pal

WilliamsburgVette 02-29-2008, 07:11 AM I bought a book titled "Corvette C5 Performance Projects", written by Richard Newton. It details about 25 low cost projects that are from simple, such as the throttle coolant bypass, to more complex brake installations. It also suggests interior/exterior detailing products. I bought the book from Overstock.com for about $18.00.

Thanks for the tip, will order. I guess I will see what the authors idea of "low cost" is. Surprised there is a book on this subject. :)

Pretty slick. How are the instructions or does it just give you the ideas?
