Hi, I would like to change all the wire harness on my corvette 69, Im new to this, seems a pretty easy job to do with patience, have to strip interior anyway because Im installing heat and sound barrier (shields)... ZIP Corvette seems to be an OK replacement... What you guys think, is it too hard for a newbie? or should I go for it? Anything I should be carefull with? (Apart from disconnecting battery :bump2:
Also for changing the brake lines to new steel ones is it necessary to remove body or, is it possible to do without too much hazzle?
Regards

I did all the harness in the 74- not too bad apart from needing to get the new bundle to bend where you want it to. Take pictures or make drawings of the routing and connectors so you can lay them close to where they need to be. And having a wiring diagram is a must unless you know what wire goes to what and what color it is.
Just curious, why are you changing them? I should change them in my 69 too- but it's more because of "Bubba" than anything.
I got the harness for the 74 from "The Parts Ladi" lower price than anyone else I found and made by Lectric Limited.

Thanks for the reply, I normally take pictures just in case (sometimes it takes so long time between dismantling and putting things back)... I had to repair the center console, and when I removed it I saw the bad quality of the cables, if I bend one it snaps, and also there are many cables that are a bit burnt and some others are just cut off.. have masked them all with tape as I have a problem with my battery draining all the time... So I thought that its easier just to replace the complete harness, was looking at ZIP and they seem to have a decent pack for around 1000USD, comes with diagram, if not I have the diagram from some manuals... Car seems to have many electrical problems, horn stoped working too.. interior lights dont work etc... Ill have a look at THE PARTS LADI or is it THE PARTS LADY ?? you have the site?
Thanks
Robert

They're an EBAY seller, but they also sell outside of Ebay. If you go to Ebay Motors you should be able to find them. If that won't work then try The Last Detail http://www.tld-corvette.com/
I've had good dealings with them and find the prices as good as anyone.

Not a difficult job to do since you are stripping the interior anyway. I also took pictures but in addition, I labeled the terminal ends with tape when I removed the old harnesses so there would be no mistakes made. Sometimes pictures and diagrams are difficult to follow. Also, some of the new harnesses are made to fit several models and may have some wires/terminals that won't be used on your model 'vette.
Anyway, go for it! You will get a lot of comfort in knowing that your electrical system has been upgraded. It will be just one less thing you have to worry about in the future. Good luck!
