: Highest miles on C4?
86Toad 02-14-2008, 07:30 AM I'm new here and was posting in some threads about how my '86 has over 200,000 miles on it. This got me wondering whats the highest amount of miles you have heard on a C4? I have had next to zero engine problems with this car? How long should I expect this sort of luck?
Lightning 02-16-2008, 09:33 AM I have almost 100,000 on a 1984.
91Reasons 02-19-2008, 08:54 AM Right around 117,000 on a '91
arizonaames269 02-19-2008, 12:45 PM 106K and some change on mine. Just did an engine cleaning with 3 oil changes in the garage with 1/2 kerosene on one of them. The engine is running like an electric sewing machine (constant 600 rpm with no change). I have been running with injector cleaner and I did flush the engine and old radiator before I put in a new radiator with new antifreeze. I am a firm beleiver in new fluids all around and getting rid of the old black crap including differential, trans, brake, and PS fluids. Expect to get another 100k like my 98 Cherokee that has 206K on it.:) :p
2jakes 02-19-2008, 03:49 PM ten-four on getting rid of old fluids, gos along way in rackin' up hi-miles
HDGuy42 02-25-2008, 04:44 PM 154,000 on my "84"!!
LT1Power 03-26-2008, 07:59 PM I've heard the LT1 engines commonly can run strong for 300k miles. My 1992 currently has 163k and is still running strong and still has 280bhp to the rear wheels. Purchased it with 160k on it:cheers:
lenferg 03-26-2008, 08:39 PM I have 121,000 on my 96 daily driver...no leaks, change all fluids regularly, runs like a scalded dog!
SportsCarsUnlimited 03-27-2008, 06:16 PM I have a customer with a 1986 with 290,000 miles on it. But 3 motors,2 transmissions and all most every other part replaced at least once. It,s still running strong today.

Vettemaniac 05-02-2008, 11:04 AM I have an '85 that I've owned for the past 8 years. When I bought it, it had 149,000 miles on the odometer. I've had the car repainted in '03 with ground effects and a cowl hood scoop added at that time and had the original engine and trans rebuilt in '06 at about 197,000 miles. I looked at the odometer just a week ago and passed 236,000 miles. I have issues from time to time with the car, but I would guess that any 24 year old car will have issues of one kind or another. My biggest issue is that the paint job turned into a 10 footer! Not what I wanted for the money I spent!
02RonZ06 05-03-2008, 09:27 AM I had 179,000 on my 1989 6 speed coupe when I bought it, and after some freshening up, it ran great for a year or so till I traded it in and it was still going good:thumbsup:
elscorcho 05-04-2008, 09:14 AM I have almost 100,000 on a 1984.
Same here-100K on an 84'-considering its 24 years old, that mileage (+/- 4000 per year) seems pretty low. Fresh fluids keeps em' young!!:iagree:
1fixerupper 05-12-2008, 04:46 PM jst bought an 84 w/ 130000 and it runs good but there is a ticking in the top end that bothers me.with a hose to the ear it seems to be the TB injectors but no noise any lower on the intake or heads.anyone else notice the same on theirs or should I worry more?
snowmanmdp 05-13-2008, 02:49 PM 107,000 on my 85....I too beleive in keeping the fluids changed and clean! No leaks anywhere and runs good.:burnout:
khan2305 05-16-2008, 03:21 PM Just saw one over last weekend that had 169408 original miles on it! And not a single out of place noise! The interior looks decent just the seats are getting pretty rough, but that's about it.
heyunclecharlie 05-22-2008, 06:50 AM I've seen one with over 220k on her! Surprisenly she was sounding pretty strong too!

jimmycrackcorn 05-27-2008, 06:18 AM damn those are some high miles on those Vettes! That goes to show that even with a sports car if you take care of it and change the oil when your supposed to then the car will last a long time!
909Vette 05-29-2008, 08:26 AM I have a customer with a 1986 with 290,000 miles on it. But 3 motors,2 transmissions and all most every other part replaced at least once. It,s still running strong today.
