Does anyone know if brakes from a newer C6 Z06 will fit on a 2002 Z? Or will I need to get bigger wheels? I have the stock 2002 Z wheels on the car. Moving from the Stock Z brakes to the Z06 brakes from a C6Z will be a good upgrade right?

Sorry but you will need to go up on the wheel size to get the new Z06 brakes to fit.

Only brake kit to fit your 17" wheels are the Wilwood 6 piston superlites 13" front rotors. If you plan on heavy duty track usage, go with the big brake kits (need 18" front wheels for the 14" rotors) by Baer or Wilwood has a new BB kit!

A word to the wise:

1. I would not C6 Z06 brakes. They are not a real upgrade from your OEM and are dangerous in a RR track environs. I have 2 good friends who road race C6 Z06's with me. The first thing they did was get rid of those brakes. One of the two had the brakes fail at 135 mph on a back straight and almost totaled his car.

2. If your going to spend money on aftermarket brakes I would go with Stoptech or Brembo. I raced for a season on Wilwoods and sold them and went with Brembo GTs. Wilwoods are a great street brake but aren't in the same league on the track with the other two (else I wouldn't have spent the money to upgrade).

Advice: If your not going to track your car, save your money and stick with OEM.

Good luck.

One additional thought(if you decide to rr): To run the Stoptech or Brembo kits you'll need 18" wheels. CCW Corsairs are a great racing wheel(strong/lightweight).

Most folks go with 18"s on all 4s. Wide choice of racing rubber avail.
