I have a 07 with the base single disc radio. I am looking to buy a used 6 disc changer with XM radio which I really want. Its coming out of an 05Does anyone have any opinion on doing this, I think it should work but not sure. What about the antenna for XM?

The radio will probably not work all the newer GM radios are VIN specific. If you can try it before you buy it that would be the thing to do. The dealer will charge you $75 to $300 to make it work in your car. Depending on witch one you go to or they might not do it at all. I have a tool at my shop that clears the GM codes because we do repairs on all GM radios. We need to power up the radios on the bench.
Hope this helps you!!!

Sounds like XM is not in your car now. The 05 unit antenna is most likely the wart on the halo. you dont want that.
Do you know if your car is wired for XM already for the antenna, etc. I upgraded my 6 CD/XM to an aftermarket unit without XM. I have read that it is very complicated to take the XM stuff out of the car because it is connected to the computer.
If you have to have XM/Sirus My suggestion is to get the aftermarket sirus system sold at FRYs or somewhere and use that instead. the XM stuff is inferior to the sirus stuff anyway.

Thanks for the input. It sounds like buying a used head unit just to get xm may not be the way to go. I think I willl just get a tuner at Best Buy and haver it installed in the consol so you cant see it. Have to open the consol to change channels. I think it will use a FM modulator to play through the cars radio.
