What characteristics change in the cars suspension during competition mode compared to normal? So the car handles better but why?

On on RR course, once you push your car hard and get some seat time, the vette's active handling can induce understeer when you enter turns hard. I won't get on a track with it on(even in comp mode). The Yaw sensors in the car think the car is out of control and throw in opposite rear brake.

Very bad. Once you get 5-6 HPDEs sessions under your belt and some instruction, most experienced RRs turn the active handling off all together.

Comp mode will help a little, but still doesn't cure the problem.

That said, the active handling can bail you out of some tight situations and stop the car from spinning. Suggest you work with an instructor at a HPDE event who can help you decide when to turn it off(as you progress).

So the verdict is: Competition mode is good for the everyday driver, for the hard core race drivers, its a big no go!

I believe the Competitive Driving mode turns off the traction control but still leave the active handling active. I always drag raced in this mode with my 2001 Z06 because it would allow me to do burnouts and if for some reason I ever lost traction I figured the active handling would help straighten me out. I pretty much always drove the car in Competive Driving mode.

Good way to put it. For learning basic rr track skills competition mode is great. Once you start to push the car it becomes a pain in the rear.
