I'm considering about getting the Vararam air system. I was hoping to hear and pros or cons that others may know about this system from your experience. My concern is water getting up into the engine? It seems like a great product, just a little hestitant about the whole water issue. Thanks for your input!

There were some instances of hydrolock with the original version, I haven't heard anything bad about the new one.

Vararam is a great unit, I've read about it in a few of my Vette magazines. Should get some nice gains from it as well.

The only con I see is that you still use the stock air bridge. The stock air bridge looks very restrictive to me.If you get the vararam I would get an aftermarket air bridge.

I agree, of course this holds true for any CAI you go with. The coupler is also an an item that could stand replacing...

I have read both good and bad about the vara-ram system. Most complain about the installation being a pain and the directions are not very good. If one has some mechanically inclined skills it is not really that bad. I could do it alot quicker now that I have already done it. Most that I have read about is that the new improved system does not take on water.... I have not been in the rain as of yet. Make sure to spray the filter with filter oil of some kind. (the directions does not say anything about this) Also, it is very helpful to use an air ratchet or cordles screwdriver! So far I can tell the throttle response is very good. Seems nothing is holding it back... no hesitation and over 60 mph... well, you'll have to expirence it your self.... makes me smile... more. Also, I have noticed as my automatic goes through the gears (normally) I occasionally get a "bark" from the tires. I like the idea of the air coming in from a logical and unused area. My .02

About the stock air bridge. I also changed it to a carbon fiber high flow intake duct. I had a problem with it. After calling to where I purchased it from and they told me that every one has had no problem with the mounting of it. But the CF intake duct is around 1/4" smaller that the intake / coupling hose. The seal would not satisfy me. It lookes like it would pinch up when tightening the clamp. So.... I found some .080" rubber gasket material and cut a 1 1/4" strip and wrapped it around the CF intake duct and the seal was great. My .02

Yes I have the Vara-Ram on my 02 Z06 and I do love it. Also as mentioned above the 'better' air bridge would probably be a good addition to add to the Vara-Ram, I am looking into getting a carbon fiber air bridge in the very near future, they are larger and better flowing.
As far as some talking about water getting in and possible damage,... If it is raining that bad or standing water is that deep, I will probably be pulled over waiting it out instead of driving in it, or at least slow enough to stop if I think it will go over the front air intake ducts.

Yeah we just moved the last few weeks and that takes up a lot of time, and now we are dealing with two houses, our other one and the new one, two lawns to mow, and moving things, and getting the other ready for sale while setting this one to live in and all the other things that go along with that. I now have a nice large two car garage, that I also just tiles black and white checker, man is it nice, I will add some pictures to another thread soon.
