: Help out a newbie! pics inside!
bigike 01-20-2010, 02:39 PM Ok i'm a dodge guy, i've got a 374 whp station wagon (dodge magnum) and a 510 whp pickup (SRT-10). But i want a sports car bad!
I came across a C4 it is an 89' with 60,000 miles a Doug Ripple Motorsports DRM 383 a built ZH 6sp and the DRM willwood brake package. I've never thought of the first gen c4 as a pretty car until i started looking into buying it. i do however love the more rounded versions of the early 90's with the zr1 rear end.
The car is in good mechanical condition, no large exterior or intirior blemishes.
Do y'all think that 7,000 is too much?
Some things i've read about that are down sides to the c4 is the ride. this one has the selectable ride options. Does this make the car more livable on the street or is it still very harsh? Does a coil over kit like what doug ripple sells improve the ride quality or is it mostly for handling?
the late model rounded off bumpers front and rear, are they an easy swap?
I hope my wife lets me buy it soon.... I love the c4 hoods. my buddy just bought a blown c6 and when i popped the hood i remembered how much i enjoyed seeing the tires and suspension, made it feel even more exotic.
Are there any interior updates like swapping in the 90-96 dash that anyone does??
Thanks a lot y'all i appreciate your time!
Jay

gator 01-20-2010, 04:09 PM Well first let me welcome you to the site. I think the price sounds pretty fair to me I paid 6K for my 87 and its all stock. I really can't help you with the ride question as mine jusr as the reg. susp., but I like the firm ride I have my Equinox for a soft quiet ride hehe. As for the swap I'm fairly certain it is a straight switch but I have been known to be wrong from time to time. Sounds like you have some nice Mopars there I have had a couple in the past a 2000 Durango R/T and my sons '04 Electric Blue SRT-4. Goodluck with your purchase and welcome to the Vette community......you have to have 10 posts to put pics up......if you want email them to me and I'll get them up for ya.
gator 01-20-2010, 04:21 PM WOW just went and looked at your pics very sweet lookin Vette, I love that color. I'm usually not a fan of sidepipes on anything but they look good on that, I think 7K is a great price even without seeing under the hood.
bigike 01-20-2010, 05:26 PM gator i thought the same thing! I hate side pipes! save for on a c2 and some c3's and of course any Viper..... But those look good!
As for the ride i'm not too worried about the ride, but if i do get it i think that after a procharger, the drm coil over would be my next mod....
jrd326 01-20-2010, 05:59 PM I can tell you it is really easy to spend over $7000 on just the motor and transmission mods. I would say it is a very good deal and I would jump on it if I had the chance.
Gray84 01-20-2010, 07:39 PM Seen the pics that is a pretty nice car. I would believe that the products by DRM alone are close to the price he is asking. I would probably jump on it. The choice is obviously yours to make though.

I agree with the bumpers 50% i dont like the early c4 front bumper but i do the back bumper the late c4 back bumper oval lights i dont like corvettes. They have always had round lights.
If its in great shape low miles 7k is a steal for a c4 with a 383 he has more in the drive train then 7k.
Ive seen people ask 12k for less c4's thats a great deal for 7k if it runs good and good inside and out he could easily ask 10k and sooner or later get it!
Ill post your pic up so everybody can see.

Seabee 86 01-21-2010, 04:39 AM I would be careful. The car is beautiful but if its so wonderful, why is he asking so little? The car is georgous though, holy crap...
luvnlife! 01-22-2010, 05:39 AM Hey buddy, PM "smokinvette2" and he will get you taken care of on the posting so you can put up pics!
Wicked90 01-22-2010, 09:20 AM The major drawback for those early C4's is the digital dash crapping out constantly. That's why I bought a 90.
Make sure it's not a salvage title.
BTW you can by the late C4 bumper style (91-96) and convert it.
