Well thats a good idea you got there the only problem is that no one is really going to be able to give you much direction cause we dont know what your plans are for the motor. and good web site to look at that shows alot of aftermarket performance parts that really kick *** is www.Jegs.com im going to be buying a brand new 350 that has around 300hp and 350 lbs of torque for 4,000 which is really good and gm gives a 100,000 mile warrenty on the motors but just take a look at it never know what you might find.

Do not mean to rain on your parade, but think that after all time, effort and $$$$$$$$$$ you will be spending plus the down time just looking at a car in pieces as your funds deplete one might be better off spending time on the hunt for a decent late model c4 with all the improvements in HP and driver comforts for 10k or less and be able to kick butt, then maybe invest in after market go-fast parts in the area of intake, exhaust and ignition as these will give much bang for the buck. Once you tear into your 25 year old engine you will be faced w/major rebuild ($$$$$) and if its a "COB-JOB" it spells "SOL". In the old days we'd say "there's no substitute for cubes", now its dollars not cubes.
