I wanted to get the Z51 package on my new 2007 C6 Corvette but did not get it on the car I wanted. To give me some additional handling, could I add some Z51 shocks by replacing the stock ones? This would give me some additional handling without the rougher ride of the entire Z51 package. Note, I bought my corvette on my 78 birthday! Previous car was a MB CLK55AMG supercharged.

Z-51 option is much more than different shocks. The Z51 option includes better tires, different ratio in the gearbox (manual), steering oil cooler, sway bars, drilled rotors, AND shocks. The best you can do for handling is change the sway bars........... Later and more advanced would be coil over conversion.

Rob,

Congrats on your new car. As the stevety44 said, the Z51 package is much more than just suspension. I would enjoy the car for a while and then consider some upgrades.

Because you have base suspension, some increase in spring rate can make a huge difference, and coilovers might be a nice option. The increase in spring rate and better damping will make the car feel more like the european style ride you had with your MB.

Also a good first mod could be a set of sway bars. They will increase the responsiveness of car and make it corner flatter in turns. There is very little ride quality degradation with sway bars also. Our Pfadt Street sway package would be my recommendation.

Enjoy your car and give us a call if you need some recommendations on suspension upgrades.

thanks,
