Question: Had my battery go dead, charged it and started the car now I have a check engine light on? Also will the dead battrey cause me to loose any performance settings I had stored in the computer?

Did you charge it completely or just enough to start the car?

You may also want to pull the codes.

It should not wipe out any custom tuning.

No, Wont affect tuning at all, although you will have to reset your clock radio or stored radio settings.

I just had my windows tinted and the guy left the key on for several hours and when I went to pick up my little red Vette the daxx battery was dead as a door nail. He removed the neg battery cable and charged the battery for approx 45 min., and I left really pisxxd. However, now the "check engine" light stays on steady - no codes have poped up. How do you get the "check engine" light to go out. Oh, when I got home I charged the battery completely and made sure the cables were connected at 13 lbs. Any help

If the check engine light is on there must be a code stored.

turn the ignition on but don't start the engine.
While holding the Options button down press the fuel button 4 times then release both.
The DIC will go into diagnostic mode and show the stored codes.
Code number with an H are those stored in history, those with a C are current.

Got it - cleared it -reset it and now engine light is off. I think the battery didn't get a full charge and it threw the code "C1236." It's cleared now and we'll see what happens. Thanks rw
