hey guys, i just hit 100,000 mile on my C5 and its time to change the spark plugs. i'm having some trouble getting the sparkplug boots off as they are really stuck. any tips on getting off without messing up the wire. i do have about 3 pairs of good snap-on wire pullers but still cant move'em....

I don't have much by way of advice on how to get the boot off other than trying to not pull them at an angle, which is hard with the small amount of clearance. However, you may want to consider replacing the wires as well as if they are that oxidized onto the plugs, they are probably due for replacement as well.

Is the engine cold? that seems to be the easiest way to get them loose,I would also change the wires,so don't worry about damage to the wires. If you have a good set of pullers try twisting as you pull.

I just did mine at 173,000 miles. I used a LONG pair of needle nose pliers. I grabbed the back end edge of the metal heat cover on the plug boot. Pulling on it will pull the boot evenly. You can pull with the needle nose pliers and use your free hand also. Once you remove one you'll see how the metal heat shield attaches.
