My buddie who sold me his vette told me to put premium in it and nothing else cause it wont drive right is this true?

Check the manual in your console. Im pretty sure the C4 vettes required at least 89 octane. Not sure tho.

It should run OK on 89 octane, I run either 89 or 91 octane in mine and have had no problems. Others have said to strictly use 91 or 93 octane for the best performance. :cheers:

My 87 owner's manual recommends premium fuel. It states that you can use 87 octane with reduced performance. Page, 2-2....jim

I use 93 octane Sunoco in mine most of the time and it runs good. My manual also states the lower octane you go, you can expect less performance. I may try 1/4-1/2 of tank of 89 one of these days just to see how it runs.

Early C4s may get away with lower octane. But 90s on up require premium mostly because of the HP.

Yes I found that I could get away with the lower octane however I found that when I ran the good stuff in her, she really runs alot better!! :cheers:

I have heard from alot of people that I should run the good stuff in my Vette. Yeah it is a little more expensive, but the car seems to run better while using it.

Had this ´91 vette now since aug-05 and it has been here in Sweden since ´94 or ´95. I am the third owner here in Sweden. Here the lowest octane you can get is 95 and up to 98 at the regular gas stations. Two months ago I let a mechanic clean the IAC and the TB (off plenum), and he said that there wasn´t anything to clean because it was clean. I´ve never used any injector cleaner or seafoam or whatever. Start to believe it might be true about this the higher the octane the better. I always get the 95 because it´s cheaper than the 98. On the other hand, none of my previous cars have had problems with clogged up/dirty TB parts. And I consider myself a normal driver (OK, once in a while I put the pedal down a bit more, but who doesn´t).

Don't have to but I always do. Engine runs better in my opinion.

The exhaust don't look too bad either.

Low octane gas!! Like drinking lite beer no good for the internal parts. Only the best for my Vette, save the cheap for the others!!!!:iagree:

Only 93 octane for my baby! I'd cut back on eating first if money was an issue!!

I know that in 92, they increased compression with the LT1 engine and my filler neck is labeled premium fuel only, but I think older models can still use lower octane...DDBS:beer-fresh:

I only use 92 octane, only because I'm too scared to use anything else.
