I have a '87 C4 nothing major done it. However during the summer months the car runs very warm. I was told last year before the next summer hits I should replace my radiator. I came across this company called Dewitts who makes larger aftermarket radiators for C4's.
Has anyone heard of this company? Use their radiators? Did it cool the engine more than the stock one did?
Thanks
Gary

I just ordered one and it should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. I also have an 87. If you put plastic in, you can expect the plastic to break and leak in time. The cooling is going to be determined by the thermostat and by when the cooling fan will kick in (chip). It is now programed to come on at 227 and go off at about 200. The second fan is programed to come on at 240.

I replaced mine with a Griffin 4 core and it was about $750...But well worth it. I have no more overheating issues...

Just ordered yesterday and delivered today. I highly recommend the Dewitts, Nicest Radiator I have ever seen. It is twice as wide and they supply the bottom and upper rubber boots for a good fit. American made in Brighton, MI.

Dewitts makes some very good products. Don't be afraid to order from them. We use there stuff in street and race cars with no problems. Good stuff.....

First make sure the radiator is clean of debris. also check between the A/C condenser for debris. Put in a 180 degree thermostat. You can also buy an aftermarket temp sensor that will turn your fans on at a lower temp. This should take care of your ride running hot.

Been busy and just dusted off this project this past weekend. How much are these radiators any way? Someone said the Griffin is $750, how much is the Detwitts?

Does using a 180 degree thermostat cause any problems for the computer ?

My 87 consistently ran hot (225), flushed radiator and change to 160 thermostat, bypassed throttle body coolant lines (Summer Only Car), and added 50 Below coolant supplement. Now runs around 185 to 195 and only gets up to 225 if stopped in traffic for a long period on 90+ days.
Runs great and still get 17.5 mpg city & 21 highway.

A 180 degree should be OK, But if you go any lower you will start causing problems for the ECM. The coolant temp sensor in part adjusts your air/fuel mixture if it's to cool you get a rich mixture and poor fuel mileage. These motors should run at least 200 degree. The cooling fan will not even start in tell 226 degree. cooler is not all ways better.
