We need them if we want to pass inspections so which are the best ones that give great air flow to maximize hp?
My Vette has 3 of them? 2 below the headers and 1 between the Y pipe and exhaust. Can I go with something like this and still pass a smog type inspection?

OR would it be better to go this route and just gut the one in the middle

Ive been reading alot about how old cats can rob an engine of hp by them being clogged up over the years.
The ones on this Vette are 20 years old so a change is in order. ( 90 Vert)
ALL TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED - Thanks again

Some of the states allow you to remove the 2 pre-cats if you install a higher efficiency main one. I know that they allowed this in Colorado up till a few years ago...i haven't checked since then.
If not, i have heard that a lot of people are still passing the inspections by hollowing out the 2 pre cats and installing a high quality main. You might want to look for a Corvette club in your area and ask if any-one there has done this to get the exact brand/type needed to pass the test. I always wondered if the change would still pass the sniffer after several years but haven't tried... that is Another good question to ask some-one in your area that has done it.
I wouldn't take any-ones advice on this by-pass until they prove to you that it has worked though.

My state doesn't test for anything. Could take all three off.

Now a days I have a test pipe in place of the cat. Not that I recommend doing that but where I am I have no problem passing my inspection.
When I did have a cat I used the magnaflow convertor.

Can a bad or aged Converter lead to a hotter interior?
My interior does get pretty warm on trips but I thought that was normal due to it being a V-8 and a 2 seater.
Any and all tips are greatly appreciated - Thank you!
