I have a 1986, the headlamp doors stay open when I turn off the lights. I check fuses on side panel. Is there another fuse somewhere ? Has anyone experienced this problem and know what the fix is?

My suggestion is to buy the rebuild kit from Ecklers's or the like, and replace the original substance in the gear housing with the newer nylon "bushings". It's an easy fix and lasts forever.

........could be the relays. I replaced mine when my lights hung up and it fixed it!

I have a 1988, had this problem. Bit the bullet and replaced the units. Your year can be up-graded to the newer ones, that is the thing to do if you are going to go for a total replacement.

On a 86 vette there are 3 relays on the divers side inner fender near the headlight there is a black cover over them. 1 main relay and a left and right headlight relay. If both lights stay open then check the main relay it is turned on an off buy the headlight switch. Check this before buying motor you don't need.
