I went out to start the car for the first time since November. Backed it out pulled the brake, it went all the way to the top and some thing popped now it won't hold at all. What do you think I did?

I must add I also had just had all the calipers off the car painting them.

I don't know if this will work for you, but I put the car in reverse at 3-4mph and pulled the e-brake. I had read on another forum that this could help reset the brake somehow. It worked for me. You might give it a try???

Did the pop sound like it came from the base of the handle?

Spiral04 is correct, that's the procedure for adjusting the EBrakes assuming everything is functioning correctly!

The calipers being off is probably a coincedence as the EBrake cable goes to the inner drum of the rear rotors...

I think the cable may have popped off the pawl at the base of the handle... Send me your EMail so I can send you a doc that outlines how to fix it.

My ebrake just doesn't hold at all. Is there a way to adjust these things?

Yeah as Spiral04 said, although the book says to roll in reverse @ 6 Mph then yank the handle up. You may have to do this several times.

If you're still having trouble with it holding send me your EMail, I'll send you a good doc on getting fixed.
