There is a lady on this board who claims to have well over 200k on original running gear and she is running a supercharger...........My 98 has 68k on it and does not use a drop of oil between oil changes every 5k.

If there is a problem with these cars it is electronics, everything is controled by computers, sensors and relays and they do fail, especially in humid, wet climates...........or places where things corrode rapidly!~ They also fail in the hotter areas of the car, I have owned mine for 13 months and the oil pressure sender has failed, and also the cas, both of which are located in hot areas on the engine.........Under $45 ea to fix because I did it myself, but annoying.........

Corvettes are admirably strong. Only mistakes such as running lean seem to do the LS1 in. Forced Induction cars seem to be happy until around 550whp, beyond which things can get a bit sketchy.

As far as the rest of the driveline, the clutch is the weak link from the factory, which is fine. Once that is strengthened, the driver's side output shaft in the differential is notoriously weak. When you have your 3.90 or 4.10's put in, have a stronger shaft installed for another $300 or so.

Beyond that, using full slicks at the track can break tranny and diff casings, and some folks have even snapped torque tubes. But, that is with hard launches, lots of horsepower, and extremely sticky tires. Other than needing a stronger clutch, without heaping slicks and 6000RPM clutch dumps on your car, it should be fine even at obscene power levels. Hell - even some of the Lingenfelter turbo cars use nothing more beefy than a Z06 clutch!

Just passed 108K on my 02 automatic. Still runs strong but I do have a rebuilt transmission from GM that I put in right at 100K. Tranny and install was $3000.00. The computer said the transmission was shifting into 2nd but It wouldn't actually shift until 3rd. I decided to go with a rebuilt from GM because it came with a 100K mile warranty. Hasn't given me any troubles yet.

I have 98 C5 with 131k miles on it. It was a salvage vehicle with 61k when I got it. I rebuilt it and now I drag race it and typically get a 120 to 150 runs a year plus many street miles. So far the only parts that I have replaced from normal driving is a front and a rear wheel bearing. A year ago, I lost 5th and 6th gear while driving on the highway and had the transmission rebuilt. I also replaces the electronic shocks with standard Bilstiens at about 90k. Furthermore, the only parts I have broken while racing have been the aftermarket ones! Other than that, it runs like a top!

I was wondering why my ears were ringing the past couple days I thought I had swine flu...

But thanks for all the kind words sorry jimmy I couldnt "quote" you as well.
But my car has 240,000 miles on the original engine I have gone threw a tranny. I had mine rebuilt first time had nothing but issues with that thing so I broke down and bought one from Contempary Corvettes from a wreaked one. Ive been running that for 2 years now. Its handling my power better then the built one ever did.
But then again car has over 200k and now has 525RWHP 500 tq.
I had small issues with the car your typical crap
steering column locking, leaking (but ever vette I owned leaked somewhere its part of owning them they come with leaks) And I get crazy lights and wipers. But Ive figured that out as well. Usually if my wipers are acting up means I had a puddle of water under it and I need to take the wiper motor out and dry it all up. Crazy lights was easy I just found the crazy wire that was causing it and just taped the heck out of it tada I love duct tape.:rockon6rk:

But thats nothing I have drove the living crap out of this car/ showed it EVERYWHERE, And when I walk outside and see it sitting there I still cry and cant believe its mine.... :beerbang:

200,000 miles of smiles trust me.
Ive had a run in or 2 with people that say "200,000 miles aint nothing to be proud of" well I am :D very proud of that.......:Irule:

Sorry I just read where you were looking at the price of the tranny sorry

My first tranny I had rebuilt 3 times
each time it cost me around 1500
The salvaged one I have in it now cost 300 and had ECS install it for me
Duct tape is about 4 bucks a roll

That is the only thing with a Vette, if you need it to carry more than two people it is just going to cut it in that dept.!
