I have a quick question. The change oil light came on this morning coming to work. At lunch I went ahead and changed it. But I cant seem to figure out how to reset the light. I would prefer to reset it before I go home and I have to leave pretty soon to meet the water extractors at home. Is this light set to a certain time frame or mileage limit to come on? Also is it supposed to take 5 1/2 qts.?

Turn the key on, don't start it. Press and release the metric button twice within 5 seconds, then press and hold the gauges button until the change oil light quits flashing.
Capacity with filter is 5 qts, but if you put in 5 1/2 it won't hurt anything.

After I killed it and waited a few minutes it showed in the middle of full and add. I like to keep it at full so I added 1/2 more. Thought that was kind of odd cause every other stock panned 350 I ever had took only 5 qts to full. but dont these cars have an engine oil cooler too. Oh well its done now, thanks 95

Not sure on LTX but the Vette L98's have a larger (6qt ) than std capacity pan.The oil cooler was deleted when GM speced syn oil for the LTX engines as it has the abilty to run hotter without breaking down unlike dino oil

So there was a span where the vettes didn't have oil coolers and then they went back to them correct?

I just assumed it was a oil cooler since I dont need a tranny cooler (manual). I noticed it while draining oil but I didnt look too closely.

It absolutely could be an oil cooler, but it would have to be an aftermarket part since they were done away with in 1992.
