New here college student in Orlando, FL and I have a 2001 C5 and wanted to see if there are any suggestions on other than factory replacement tires for the 2001 C5 Corvette? Firestone Firehawks I have been told are the best replacement because the have less noise and are cheaper.
So I wanted to see what you all had to say. Thanks

Depends on your driving I personally like the Nitto 555R for traction.

Pilots are a good tire. No run flat but a great tire for the money.

What are you looking to use car for: general street, 1/4 mile, hpde(rr)? How much of each? That will determine best tire for you.

^^^ And do you have AAA/other towing service in case of a flat with a non-runflat tire?

I like the Nitto 555 (not r's) for just really good feel. It's progressive, gives good feedback, quiet, reasonably priced and has a good looking tread pattern that works well in both rain and dry. Should be a great tire in Florida...only downside is when temperatures get down around freezing, they tend not to be too well behaved. Not undriveable, just not as nice as when it is warmer. Much nicer ride than the stock runfats...

That's your number one consideration if it's a DD! Some guys have thrown in a GTO spare tire or a Z06 flat tire kit when switching to non run flats.
I'm not sure how much you can afford while attending college, General UHP is a decent tire for $86.00 BUT I've heard the wet handling wasn't great and is a major factor where you're at. Firestones Wide ovals are a good inexspensive choice too. Also a guy on EBay sells good tires for less then $500.00. Damn near anything will be an upgrade from the stock runflats!
I'm leaning towards the Goodyear GSD3s.

I just purchased Goodyear Eagle F1 for my 1998. Awesome performance and looks. Alittle more money, but worth it. T

Looks like Nitto is getting more recognition in the Corvette world. This past weekend at the shop there where a couple guys who had Nittos on their Vettes. Personally I like the tread on those Invo's.

Good year and Nittos where to much, I ended up getting a good deal on Pilots that will get installed tomorrow. Wow tires period are pricey! Need to get out of college so I can afford my toy!
