So I have a '07 A6 that has 2.56 gears in it. My question is can I simply swap out the ring and pinion plus all the carrier parts to a lower GM gear set? Or will I need to swap out the whole differential?

FWIW, when I looked into this, swaping gears in the vette was not as easy as in an F-body. Places that did F-bodies were not willing to do it on the vette. I don't recall the specifcs but decided that was enough to stop me from trying. I ended up swapping the rear, which included upgrading some of the internals with a DTE Stage 2 rear.

Yes you can, but you will need a new carrier for any ration higher than a 3.15. Its a great upgrade tho... we do them in house quite often. :thumbsup3:

Youre looking at spending around 2k with the new carrier and everything... We are close - feel free to give us a call if you have any questions, or would like to dicuss...

If ECS had been a bit closer, I would have driven up to have them do a swap. Upgrade the output shafts while it is apart.
