Sometimes/alot I put the key in and turn it and nothing happens, wait 4 to 5 min. and it starts then other times you have to wait another 4 to 5 min. I bought a new key, but it did not help. Now what? Chris

Your security system bit the dust. This is very commom for those years. You can replace it or over ride the system. Ecklers sells an override device that tells the security system its OK to start the car. It plugs in under the stering collumn. You will need the chip code from your key to order this override. Good luck, coastal corvette.

9 times out of 10 it is your ignition lock cylinder. If you had a mchine called a int.module tester you could plug it in under the dash where your lock cylinder is plugged in and bypass the key pellet to start vehicle. If it starts with machine than your lock cylinder is bad.If it don;t than your module is bad and that is mounted behind your head bump pad on pass side dash.Your key pellet could be bad too but I am betting on the lock cylinder.
