I have been trying to get my corvette going for some time now.

Long story short. Pump Relay dies. Car sat for about 7years. Top cracked and water got into car. Rusted the Clutch pedal solid. (Who know what else it damaged under the dash.)

Anyway. Got pump working but car wont start unless you shoot starting fluid into throttle body.

I thought as some of you did it was the ECM since the injectors werent firing and I couldnt get code. Got new ECM still wont start.

In fact the "service engine light" doesnt come on when I turn the key forward and once I stop cranking and turn key to off, the security light keeps flashing.

Two questions:
1. Does the clutch only disable the starter or does it disable the ECM also?

2. Does the Vats key security only disable the starter or the ECM or more.

I just purchased a set of service manuals but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!!!!!!!:sm_party:

What year helps? Does it keep running once you have it started with fluid?

No

VATS takes out the starter ( through starter enable relay ) and disables the injectors. It is possible your VATS module is faulty on that side.
There are also other non VATS inputs needed to be seen by the ECM to fire the injectors during cranking

1990 L-98 6 speed.

Nope, dies out once the starting fluid is gone.

You say you got your fuel pump going? So you DO have fuel pressure in the fuel rails? How much pressure do you have?

Have you got "sys" displayed in the odometer?
If so there is a problem with the CCM or the data link from CCM to ECM which enables the injectors
No CCM codes like code 41?

38-40PSI. Pump primes then shuts down until you crank.

Now, The only way to get the pump going is to directly apply 12v to the pump harness.

Interesting. I dont know if the gauges are damaged from the water leak. I'll have to look to see if that shows.

If it does show, is there a direct harness b/n the CCm and ECM?
