Smokinvette is a very open forum, which is just one of the many things I enjoy about the site. Its you members that make this site what it is and its fun. We all have freedom of speech here. (unlike some other sites)

I just wondered if anyone had ever considered placing him on a probation status instead of outright banning him. This forum is NOT just for experts. But without a few experts, what is left for the rest of us? We can speculate and postulate, until the cows come home, but without someone that knows something, where do we turn for answers? I am a nobody here, and I certainly don't know, but I would bet my Corvette that his banning had nothing, zero, to do with the level of his knowledge. The constant asinine threads, racist and sexually biased comments and referrals were not for a forum I want to remain a part of. I had reduced my visits here, because of his harassment and stalking. I would have let my participation wane to nothing. Big deal you say? NO! Not at all really, but there comes a time when doing nothing for fear of making an unpopular choice, is actually making a choice, possibly subconsciously. In my opinion this forum will retain and gain more people with good solid knowledge like vetteoz, rather disruptive tag a-longs like the recently departed.

I almost left because of the totally disruptive nature of, as I affectionately referred to as, the IDIOT. It seemed few were demonstratively concerned. In my opinion, if the banning of such a disruptive influence is so distasteful to some as to cause their departure, I say too bad, but good luck in your future endeavors. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

I don't think you are getting the full picture here. I highly doubt that he was banned for his lack of expertise or his lack of knowledge. He was banned because of the way that he behaved on the forums. On a regular basis, he was giving false information that could have possibly caused a lot of problems for the people asking the questions. When someone would correct him, he would become rude and abrasive. He attacked multiple people on the forum and caused havoc in nearly every thread he posted in. He got into threads that were good informative threads and started with his off topic banter. When he was asked to stop by the people who were actually trying to post good information, he would go back to his rude behavior. I, for one, believe that we are better off without his rude, juvenile remarks on the forum.

Here or not, the vast majority of his positions or opinions were indefensible. His powers of comprehension were so low, if challenged, he could not reply on subject. In response, he would then debase or name call, just to post a response and to make noise. In my opinion the depth of his knowledge was moot. How he handled it was still less than half the problems. I don't mean this as insulting or as an effort to name call, but that boy has some "problems". Hopefully they will be cured before I encounter him again.

There are a couple of people who use the reporting thing to actually cause more problems... i have been VERY curious as to if the agents ever say anything to them??? It is the internet phenomenon called trolling...people who intentionally say or do the right thing to push some-one's button then report the response to escalate the situation...They are the ones who need to be removed if that is what they are doing.
If you are getting so many reports then maybe it is time to look closer at the reporters???
Since i joined i have only reported 2 threads; one in which 2 people were threatening bodily injury to each-other (that might not have been this site???), and the other was some hacker starting a bunch of threads on world of war craft spamming/phishing BS that needed the fast boot.

Personally i have to admit that the banned person rubbed me wrong and i tended to just ignore or not respond to him. I am surprised that he made it through the summer before getting banned... now that it is done, it is up to the mods/owners what his fate is... I don't care either way.

Like a bunch of little kids on the playground telling on each other. I sent the guy a few PMs warning him to watch out and even replied to one of his posts on the forum telling him to watch out, his reply to me was you guys can't ban me I have done nothing wrong.
