On a long trip, how has your C5 handled with the back fully loaded?

I am planning on visiting some relatives shortly for the holidays and plan on driving to avoid airlines. Now, I can ship my luggage which wouldn't be too bad but I first would like to know what some thoughts were on how the over all performace of the car would be with that extra weight in the car. Thanks in advance!

I bought my 04 z06 z16 from a city 14 hours away from me and drove it home. for the drive out there we had 4 of us and all the luggage was in the trunk and it did great. the car we drove out there only got 1-2 mpg better and it was a 2000 buick lesabre. we averaged about 25-30 mpg's. and acceleration was still quite good:sm_party:  if u can fit ur luggage in ur vette i would do that.. itll be cheaper than shipping ur stuff and u know u wont lose it!!!!hope this helps:beer-fresh:

If you're just carrying luggage, the additional weight won't affect your car's handling enough to notice any difference. Now if you were carrying BRICKS................

Don't see how the amount of normal luggage you can fit into a Vette could make any difference in the handling.

I drove my C5 Coupe to Texas from California and had my luggage and two small dogs in the back sleeping and it was great and of course the gas mileage was between 25 to 28 mpg doing 65 and 85 mph the whole way with no problems just people looking at my vette all the time and giving us the thumbs up.

We take ours to Myrtle Beach every year, which ia about a 17 hour drive.
It's loaded up with golf clubs and luggage. You can hardly feel the difference.
These cars are great to travel with. The gas mileage and fun factor are great.:burnout:

:iagree: Last year the Wife and I took a trip from Reno to Vegas to Phoenix to Bryce Canyon and back to Reno.
The coupe was loaded with 2 carry on bags, 2 day packs, 2 bags of golf clubs, a small cooler, a lap top and assorted other items in the cubby's.
All no problem! averaged over 28 mpg!
Handled like a vette the whole trip!!
Have fun!!!!

I have only had one bag in the back, never loaded down, that is for the SUV.
