I am going to buy my first Corvette within next few months and am trying to find perfect car. I am leaning toward the Z06 and I want to know opinions if an automatic reduces the sportiness and the oomph of C5-era 'Vettes? Is the 6-speed way more fun to drive?

In my opinion the six speed is the only way to go! A lot of fun to drive. As for an automatic in a Z06, don't think you can get a Z that way.:burnout:

No zo6 came from the factory with an automatic

No Z06 with a a4, but no, the auto won't reduce the "Oomp", in the C5 (although the 2.73 gear that comes with it will) In fact, put in a stall and 3.42 gears and it will have more "Oomp" than a 6 speed:burnout:

NO SPORTSCAR IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE AN AUTO :burnout:

If you will be driving in city traffic a lot I would recommend an automatic. If you will be spending more time on the open road then get a six speed. If you like top down driving get a convertible, but if you like "more power" get a Z06. I just bought mine and it goes quite well.

I am quite fond of 6spd cars personally. however my race car has an automatic. I guess it just all boils down to your agenda with the car. either way its a win.

Since you are posting in the Z06 section I assume you are looking to get a Z. Like has been said you cannot get the Z with an automatic. They only came with the manual transmission, m12. I have an 02 Z06 that is my daily driver and it gets about 26 MPG for me on my trip back and forth to work which is a 31 mile trip each way.

I prefer the 6spd, but the automatic is just as peppy.
IMHO, what does make a huge difference in the car is having the performance axle ratio with the AT. The car is much more "responsive".

That all depends on what YOU are planning on doing with your right hand. :thumbsup3:

For city driving (Houston) I would prefer the auto, but for the thrill of driving one, the 6 speed of course. :woowoo:
