Went to dealer for normal service call and they wanted to charge me $124.87 for oil change? They changed the oil without my request or permission then tried charging me? :wtf:

If they did the oil change on accident and wasn't approved by you, you shouldn't have to pay for anything. Other wise fair price at dealer (been long time) I would say around $80???

I wouldn't pay the dealer a dime for that, it was thier mistake.

$124.87 is stupid.

did they give you an itemized bill? I would like to see where they are trying to screw you.

You figure around $30.00 for 6 qts. of oil, $10.00 for a filter. What are their labor rates? I change my own oil, it's not that difficult.:thud:

$128 for an oil change!!! Wow!!! They should be ashamed of themselves. I agree with you. I change my own oil and it usually costs now where near that dealers price. Plus I get the satisfaction of knowing that Mobil 1 was really used as well as a top quality oil filter.

I would do anyones oil change for half that in my driveway and take care of the oil disposal too.

Learn to do it yourself! They just kill you on the price because it is a Vette! It is very easy to change your oil and you will save a grip and you will feel good that you did it yourself!!

:iagree: Oil change is a simple job. I always do my own. Save your money for something that is more complicated or parts!

I live in Northern Illinois and the Dealer wanted $99.99 so I left and changed it for $38.00 in my garage. I give the old oil to the local garage to burn in his heater. And yes that is Mobil 1.

Just had mine changed at the dealer, and was charged $68. For that amount of money, I'll let them do it. Funny thing about C5s is, due to the shape of the oil-pan (and how low it is to the groungd), you not only have to jack the front to get at it, you really need to have the back end higher than the front to get all of the old oil out. That's just too much jacking up for me.

LOL!!! That is one high performance heater. Probably not too many folks out there that can say I burn Mobil 1 in their heater.

Good call.
