WHERE was the intake gasket leaking at? You mean the intake MANIFOLD  is leaking? Depends on where it is leaking and WHAT is leaking....just putting form-a-gasket on something sounds a little suspisious to me...did they offer to fix it for a *nominal fee*?? :toocrazy: ....more info will get you a better answer to your problem........

Thanks for showing interest, am very new to this, there is a small amount of oil that leaks from where the intake sets on the block and drains down onto the exhaust causing a small cloud of oil to appear the mechanic said to clean the area with degreaser let it dry and then apply a small bead of form a gasket and that probably would fix it, it just sounds to simply. thanks for the help

You can try just snugging down the intake bolts. Use torque wrench, if they do turn before their specifed torque value . it will probaly stop the leaking. its cheap and easy.

Already experienced this one. The oil would leak out the back where the manifold and the top of the block seal together with a factory rubber gasket. Cleaning and applying form a gasket won't help, because there are various air pressures within your engine that make the oil seep out more or less at different times. You have to pull the manifold and replace the intake gasket set. When you do, throw out the 2 rubber gaskets for the front and back that come with most of the sets, and put a good bead of RTV in its place. Gently set the intake down in place, don't move it around or pick it up to reposition it. Bolt it up and let it sit overnight to set and dry. You should be all set. No more oil dripping down the back of the engine and onto the starter and exhaust.

The RTV trick in place of gaskets does not work on Lt1's maybe only on L98's not sure about that.
