I read that my 2001 has the LS6 air manifold as that year became a stock part. Can any one confirm this as want to switch to it if not.

That is my understanding as well. Documented in a book I have. That is why the small bump in power that year.....


But, the heads and cam are the difference.

Yeah - just a number on a page.....

But, wasn't it 2001 that went to center bolds on the valve covers? Also the smog is different than prior years.

The LS1 did get some improvements that year.

Yes the 2001 intake is the same as the Z06 intake
97-00: 12556333 = LS1
01-02: 12561182 = LS6
02+: 12573572 = C5 LS6

5 hp means nothing to the average bear.
