My pressure pad door handles on my '05 are giving me some head aches. The passenger side seems to work just fine. It's the drivers side that seems to work when it wants to. Most cases I just need to grab the handle in a few different spots before it finally lets me in the car. But again the passenger side is fine with no problems.

Any ideas?

You may need new pressure plates, if I'm not mistaken this is a semi common issue.

Simple to replace. Check with Parts Taxi or GMPartsHouse.com for the part.

A buddies '05 did the same thing, he replaced the pressure sensors and if memory is correct, it wasn't much of a job.

Anyone have or seen a technical write-up on this? I'm having the same problem. Passenger side's ok, FOB's okay, sometimes have to pop the hatch & use the cable to open the driver's side. Need to replace soon & will do it myself if it's not too bad. Appreciate any help (suggestions, tips, pics, etc). Thanks.

Just remove the door handle trim (2 screws), pop out the switch, unplug the power, open it up (remove screws) and clean the contacts, very simple to do, you can use an eraser or contact cleaner.

Even if it's working OK but not consistently opening on the first press you can solve the problem with this

Thanks folks. Looks like I might not necessarily have to buy new parts!

Pipedreams........thanks for that info. The drivers door on my wife's '05 has been doing what everyone is describing. I followed your directions yesterday and it's now working fine. Thanks again. :thumbsup3:
