I would like to install this on my '81, the sales rep said it could be installed in 4 to 6 hours with just everyday garage tools?? I'm getting ready to spend nearly $1400 on this and want to make sure this is something that can be installed with out a lift? And also do I need any special tools?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks everyone.

No, you won't need a lift to do this. If you have a good set of wrenches and sockets then you will be fine. If you have air tools, then this would be even better and help you out.
You will need a pickle fork for a few ball joints. You can buy one for about $20 or so at any auto parts store. They make a few diffrent sizes of forks, so i'd get a couple. You can rent them from the parts store also, but for me, i like to own the tools it takes to fix my vette. Nothing sucks more than working on your vette in the middle of the night and needing tools that i should have in my box.
Your going to love your new rack dude. I want to do a rack on mine, but i have to save a few nickles first.

I had the Steeroids installed a couple of years ago by my mechanic. He said it was a fairly easy install except he ran into a clitch with my headers. He had to put a dent into one of the them on the drivers side to finish the install. Other than that, it's one of the best mods I have, definite improvement in steering.

I have Steeroids in my 70 and have been very happy with it. I installed it in my garage. The hardest part for me was getting all the u-joints lined up between the column and the rack. Once getting those setup, you will love it. The car is like its on rails.
