I currently have a procharger and think its an awsome unit. The best mod I have bought by far. Just for kicks and being board yesterday I was looking at the Vortech superchargers.

Is there a difference between these to? While on the subject lets toss in Paxon also? Are all of these close to being the same? Marketing material being the only thing that separates them?

ProCharger kits - Self contained oiling (except on their race units), utilize front mount intercoolers, quicker installation than Vortech because no oil lines to run and no lines/wires to run for fmic.

Vortech kit - Use oil from engine to lubricate supercharger, typically use water-air intercoolers which can be better in drag racing apps where you can use an ice box to get IAT's lower than the outside ambient temp, longer to install because of oil lines and wires/hoses from water-air intercooler.

Paxton kits - Offer both engine fed and self contained oiling systems for their supercharger kits, use fmic and water-air intercoolers depending upon which kit you buy.

Vortech and Paxton are 'sister' companies and share a lot of the same bracketry and are located in the same city.

Alot of my preference comes from the stand point of a shop and which manufacturer offers better customer support. We're a dealer for all 3 companies and a lot of what we sell is based upon what price point the customer is looking for us to meet. The Procharger kits are typically cheaper than a comparable Vortech or Paxton kit and they take less time to install. Some customers don't like the idea of having to remember to change out the supercharger oil and find it more convenient to use a supercharger that is fed by engine oil so whenever you change the engine oil the supercharger oil is changed at the same time.

D.I.D. - why are the procharger kits less time to install?

I agree with David, each kit has its up side and down side. I have always preferred to keep the supercharger oil and engine oil seperate , just to eliminate one contaminating the other in the event of a failure. When trying to make a supercharger decision, there is no "one size fits all" answer. Each customer wants something different, and each type of blower offers different things.

The main things to consider are type of use(street/strip/HPDE, ETC) and budget. Once you answer those questions, a knowledgeable vendor can point you in the right direction.

Compared to the Vortech kits, with the ProCharger kits you don't have to punch/tap the oil pan for an oil return line, you don't have to run an oil feed line from the motor and a air-air intercooler takes far less time to install than running all of the water lines and wiring for a water-air intercooler.
