I was told that i should do the c5 swap into my c6 for a few reasons,
1. it cost half the price to fix , upgrade, replace.
2. it is an easy install
3. the c5 is alot stronger that the c6.
anyone herd of this swap and has anyone herd if this is a good swap or know anyone who i can talk to about this. thanks.
my build is comming to its end and i still have no tranz and rear end to hold up to the power im going to be pushing, i have a few months so i want to get this right. when the engine and turbo are in i will only have it tuned to 650-700 hp and drive it easy for a 1000 miles and then bump it up to 800 and do the same. then after that it will go all the way up and i will need it for the dyno and driving it like that. i will be able to tune it dont in the car but i still need the rearend to hold up.
to build my tranz and diff in the c6 im looking at 8k - 10k for this and i dont want to spend that amount this month or next.

Are you going from a auto to manual?

The transmission is exacty the same. Tremec T56 for all C5 / C6 cars including Z06 untill 2008 when the switched to the T6060, which, incidentally, is the stronger transmission.
The rear diff. on 2005 C6 cars was a lot weaker and many people upgrade to the C5Z rear diff for the reasons you listed (stronger and cheaper) but the same does not apply to the transmission.

does the same go for the C5 to C6 Differential swap? is the c5 stronger than the c6? how about the half shafts are they stronger on the c5?

The 2005 differentials are notoriously weak. In 2006 it was redesigned and, from what I hear, it is as strong as the C5 rear diffs. The C5 rear differential bolts right up but mounts differently so you need to put an extra bracket on your car; I'm sure there are write ups on this; I don't know all the details of what is involved but I know it requires some welding.
C5 halfshafts don't have a spot where they neck down and are usually thought of as being stronger than C6. In reality all the halfshafts I've seen break snap at the part where they enter the hub or the diff and not at the neck down part, so it is probably not an issue.

I'd leave the transmission alone and put hardened halfshafts in the diff. I'd also upgrad the output shafts and perhaps also put a trans brace in the car if I needed the extra security.
Thats all my friend did on his 800WHP drag car and it runs 9s with no issues.
My car has 30,000 miles making 600RWHP with some 30+ drag passes and ZERO issues. I have a bone stock drivetrain with an upgraded clutch and a hardened halfshaft in the diff.
Make sure it doesn't wheelhop, don't abuse it to much, and it will be fine.

Good advice. DTE Powertrain is the place to look.

who sells the half shafts? i found the output shafts and trans brace. but cant find the half shafts.
DTE is the ones who gave me the 8500 to build both my diff and tranz. ill try what you said and take it easy on it. thanks
