I have only had this car for a few days and when ever I drive the car the temps have always been above 200? When I stop the car and get out, it just smells burnt? I'm not driving fast, just normal driving.

what is the normal temps supposed to be on these cars? thanks

For my 86 the thermostat opens at 190* and the secondary cooling fan kicks on at 239*. however I have the L98, You have an LT1 dont you?

No mine is a L-98 also, I don't think they came out with the LT1 till 1992? I might be wrong? I had the car checked out and was told there was nothing wrong with the coolant system.

200 deg. Is just write, the cooling fans come on at 226 deg. or with the a/c. The burnt smell after shut down is probably leaking valve cover gaskets.
P.S. you don't want your L-98 to run to cool or the coolant temp sensor with keep the air/fuel to rich making all kinds of new problems.
