While driving my '84 this morning( to church, of all places!) I noticed the automatic tranny took a second before doing the 3-4 shift. I didn't think much of it until I got out of church and realized that my fourspeed had decided it would rather be a two speed. First, Second, reverse,-all shift fine. It's just when it goes to shift from second to third, it's like pressing the clutch on a manuel car. RPM's and no power. It downshifts great, is full of fluid, which isn't discolored or burnt smelling. Anybody have any clue if there's a line or cable that might have come off, or am I fixing to spend my new interior money for a tranny?:(

Hate to say this, but it sounds as if you may need a new tranny. :( I checked with a couple of sources whom replied with tranny may need to be rebuilt or its "screws tightened". Good luck!
