Is a major job , the Helms calls for disassembly of dash.Dealers charge $1000 for replacement of the $50 core.

Take the pass seat out , lie on your back and do it
Pull the hush panel, drop the ECM and the door control module.Remove the diagonal brace. There are 5 screws on the plastic cover for the core - 2 top, three bottom/sides. There are 3 screws retaining the core itself - 1 top middle & 2 bottom. As said, watch the position of the rod on the motor that opens/closes the door (if you have electronic controls). It helps to have 1/4" drive flex adapters and every extension length they don't make
Total time about 5 hours for the heater core in-and-out. While you're there inspect all wires & the orange vacuum lines to A/c controller.

I just replaced mine this weekend. I have the entire dash out of the car right now while I fix the dash frame and the rest of the interior. The two screws on the top of the cover are going to be the toughest. Heater cores are never fun.

Aint that the truth, and they have only got worse, like 12 hours on a dodge Durango, dont forget to do a cooling flush and neutraliser conditioner for the electrolisis in the antifreeze!

It's been said many time before, the heater core comes down the assembly line and the rest of the car is built around it.

That had to have been a rough time!

Try a 02 f-150 core. Iremoved my dash and did it late last year. They only go out int he winter time too. Bad part is my 95 f-150 takes ten minutes with two tools

Nah, save for the steering wheel, I have no interior whatsoever in the car right now since I'm restoring it. Mine was very easy since everything was right there.
