My 81 has a brake issue. When the car is cold and the brakes are applied the car goes to the left. But I am leaking brake fluid from the right caliper...I was told that the rubber brake line is swelling on the inside and should be replaced.

In addition to that replacment, Does the whole brake caliper need replacment or should I just purchase a caliper seal kit ?

welcome, new guy the reason it pulls left is the right caliper isn t braking. if you need to replace it, its best to try to get ones with stainless steel sleeves. stock are prone to rust and fail have you tried bleeding good luck

WAAAY easier to swap the caliper out for a SS upgrade. Replace your flexible lines while you're at it, (stainless is also nice in these, but not necessary for general reliablility)...rebuilding a caliper is a nightmare, very messy, with no guarantee that you'll stop the leak. Stainless Steel sleeved calipers are like "plug and play", the only way to go.:thumbsup3:

You can get calipers at your local auto parts store that are sleeved. Fix all your problems in one shot. Add a set of new flex lines, flush and bleed the system and drive it like a rental car.

Get this checked out as soon as possible. Preferably by a vette mechanic.

I had a similar problem, and my rear right wheel arm broke on the road. Thankfully I wasn't on the highway.

The bill for replacing one wheel arm, ujoint, and some other stuff ended up being $1,200 (note I said there are no rear axles like on your average car, they're arms).

Replace calipers and pads in pairs. If you don't, expect it to pull.
