Anyone relocate your battery? What did you use for extentions, and where did you put it? Any photos would be appreciated.

Maybe I'm missing the point, but why would you want to move the battery?

It sits right on top of the PCM and it's associated wiring and some vaccume lines for the HVAC... if it leaks you've got a mojo problem on your hands! It also cleans up the engine I suppose.

I have to move mine to fit the Oil Tank I am putting in for the dry sump system.

It is going in the right rear compartment and will be sealed. I will post pictures when we do it so you get a better idea.

Same deal. My battery is going in the rear of the RR car I'm building. Always good to shift some weight to the rear as vettes tend to be slightly front heavy.

PS. I'm still going back and forth between having the oil tank up front vs. in the rear. I have some cage issues if the tank is in the front. I am putting in a fire wall however to protect the driver's compartment. Obviously I would rather not run the lines further to the rear of the car.

Tom am I missing something, why are you putting in firewall, doesn't the car allready have one?

We are thinking that we have enough room where the battery was for a 12 quart system. Of course until we actually get a 12 quart tank we will not know 100% for sure.

Are you running a oil cooler with your setup?

I am running the Dewitts radiator with EOC. I am quickly running out of room though since i added power steering cooler and T1 tranny cooler. :thud:

Have you seen the LPE battery relocation kit? It puts the battery in the rear center storage area of your C5. If you have the cover on that area, it fits under that. All brackets are included to frame mount the battery tray. From the interior the battery tray contacts the fiberglass on front and back. It bolts through the fiberglass to brackets which bolt to the frame rails. The plastic battery box has 2 holes that allow it to slide down over the studs of the battery tray. The battery goes in the box and the battery hold-down bracket bolts to the 2 studs. A vent tube and battery cables are included as well as all installation hardware and instructions. Standard cables go full length to the front of the car. The lightweight version uses a stud at the rear of the car and one near the motor.Instead of a full length ground wire, 2 short ones are used to allow the frame rail to replace the full length ground wire. The lightweight version requires welding the 2 studs to the frame rail. The kit has been NHRA approved. There are only a few things you can do to combat the unfavorable front weight bias of the Corvette, and this is one of them!

Hi Guys,

Just a quick thought...same numbers should apply to the Vette...If you take the battery from a Nova or Camaro and move it to the rear it changes the F/R weight distribution by 1 full percent. I did that to my old Nova years ago and it helped the handling noticably...it also made the car hard to start when below 10 degrees. Of course, with global warming that wont be a problem for long...:smack:
There are trade offs for sure...but I like the idea of getting it into the back of the car.
