I just bought my first Corvette its a 1981 C3 with 140,000 miles on it, the weather stripping around all the windows and T-Tops are bad, engine does need some work, 2 rear tires where semi new, with the fronts needing to be replaced and the interior I will give a "4 1/2"
I paid $6,200 cash? How did I do? I was excited to buy to fix up.

i paid 5k for my 79 and it needed some luv as u can see from my profile picture. interior was "worn" ...sheesh, they couldnt keep it looking good for 30 years? sheesh!:smack: needed tires, brake system, interior, shocks 115k on the odometer....but i'd say thats a pretty good deal. usually they go for like 7k or 8k minimum.

If your happy with what you paid for it, then thats all that matters.
For the work and money you will have to put into it i'd say $6200 is on the strong side of the price. I would have tried to go around $4800 $5200 give or take. Please don't take this the wrong way. You didn't get taken.
I paid $2000 for my vette, but it needed engine and trany and the interior put back together. I did all the work myself in my shop cause thats what i do:) ....
Welcome to the vette family and enjoy the hell out of your vette.

I think you got a better deal then I did, My corvette was purchased for $8,000 8 years ago, but sold on a lot. Of course they'll charge more, but the condition it was in when we got it? Not good times, prior to being sold on the lot, it had been broken into, the wires in the center console were all tangled pulled mangled, you name it. The area where the stereo was had been broken and ripped. The engine was the only good thing at 82,000 miles, but the tach was broken. Nothing on the dash worked, and there is still alot left to do since the car had been sitting in the garage for 7 years after we bought it. But since I always wanted a vette, this is what I got, and I couldnt be happier:)

I think I did pretty good as well. I got my 79 for 4000 and it has a new transmition, rebuilt engine, decent interior, the only thing is that the waether striping is bad and it has other cosmetic problems, but all in all very good deal. alot was replaced in the car before I got it, but it has a little fiberglass damage that I did myslef...oops:banghead: but this will give me a good oprotunity to learn the shape fiberglass...cant wait. I think the 6000 is a little steep, but as I heard someone say here, it doesnt matter how much you pay, its all in the love of the car. so if you love it thats all that matters. plus that extra 2000 you spent probably would have been spent on stupid stuff anyways, so just look at it as you got 2000 extra invested in something awesome!!!
