All the cylinders are different. Not by much but unless I did it wrong (my first time) they all ranged from 87-97. I will try again this weekend. I have been feeling like i am loosing some power and one of my buddies told me to check the compression, so I am!

What type of compression test did you do? Wet or dry? both?
Was the car warms up or cold?

Did our two vettes last winter and NO the cyl's won't be exact but will be somewhat close. Can't remember what the range was but I think all were within 20 of each other.

You want them w/in 10%.

However 80-90 lbs is NO GOOD. Either:
1. You gauge is not working properly, or
2. You executed the test incorrectly.

Did you have the throttle open? And the questions slrvette just asked...^

Remove all the spark plugs. And I want to say its like 160 ish psi or so. But dont hold me to that. I'm going off memory and thats never been too good.

Is 160 on a stock engine? Would that be pretty much the same with any stock Vette engine?

Make sure you have the throttle wide open also. May try doing a compression test on something else to see if your gauge is ok. 125-150 psi is common but I have seen them get up to 175 on some engines.

Where the plugs wet? Maybe your problem is related to fuel washing down the rings, put alittle oil in each cylinder & crank it over (disable fuel pump). Does it crank over slow even with the plugs out? I would get it running again, warm it up, check engine vacuum at idle, should be steady above 18 inches or so. Disable F.Pump & test comp. again. 150 psi is a good average. You might want to have a cyl. leakdown test done to see what the leak down rate is.
I did a in the car ring job about 5 yrs. ago. I used those Total Seal gapless rings and average is 215 -230 psi on a warm engine, dry test.
