1970C3. New 350 engine. Heat soak issue after shuttng down engine. Has anyone used a heat shield between the carb and intake. Just seeing if there is clearance issue before purchaseing one

The thin sheet metal type will fit fine along with a 1/4 to 1/2 inch spacer. But i wouldn't go much taller than that. What mods have you done to your engine or is it all stock? What problem are you having with the car? Fuel lines that get to hot, and a weak pump can also cause problems. Float level and carb adjustments may need to be done also. But let us know what problems your having so we can pin point what your trouble is.

Full resto. Mild cam (330 hp) New tank fuel pickup, lines, pump. Running a quick fuels carb and Edelbrock EPS manifold. New engine tuned and dyno'd on machine. Intitial problem after installation was flooding after the engine is hot, shutdown for awhile and then restarted. Lowered fuel bowl level to bottom of sight plug and that cured the flooding at restart after engine is hot. I suspect the float bowls are still boiling over (lower boiling point on new gas specs) but not as much and that is causing the initial lack of fuel supply (hesitation) until it runs for a bit and cools the carb/bowls. Hot under the hood. I will put on the heat shield.

If you really need to cool the carb block off the crossover in the intake manifold you don,t need it in calif.
